Our Heritage

Black River Asset Management LLC was founded in 2003 and is an independently managed subsidiary of Cargill, Incorporated. Black River Asset Management LLC, combined with its subsidiaries around the world (together "Black River" or "Black River Group"), encompasses what was formerly Cargill's Global Capital Markets Division, which engaged in proprietary trading for Cargill from 1984 to 2003. Black River was founded in 2003 and began managing third party capital in February 2004. The firm currently manages a wide variety of alternative investment strategies.
